39 runs was the difference between the Sappers who proceed to the Super 6 phase of the Power Cup and the Gunners who now find themselves pitted against Army Air Corps in the Plate Semi Final. It was an enjoyable match by any account. The Gunners bowled well and were sharp in the field. In contrast, their batting struggled to really get going and the controversial run out, which saw Wiseman's departure, did not help. Graham top scored, for the RACC and was on 47 when dismissed, looking to go much further.

That said, a good game which was deservedly won by the Sappers with the Spirit of Cricket prevailing. Revenge will be sought at the Gunner - Sapper match, next month but, in the interim, we wish the Royal Engineers success in the Power Cup.

Today's friendly, 35 over match, at Sandhurst, resulted in a convincing 6 wicket win for the Gunners. Highlight of the RACC innings was a magnificent knock of 87 from opener, Frank Whiting. He was partnered by Paul Bates, in a replay of their opening innings, 22 years ago, on this very ground. Paul made 30 before being bowled, however Frank saw the innings out to the end.

In a game that had pretty much everything ... a changing pitch, good bowling, erratic bowling, superb batting, top order collapses, dogged determination ... It was all in there, on a really lovely day for cricket. At stumps, the Gunners had registered a comfortable win by 131 runs, but that looked like the least likely conclusion when AMS wiped out the RA's top order.

Links to the scorecards from future matches will be posted as soon as they are available.

A resounding victory for 12th Regiment against a determined, but ultimately overwhelmed, 19th Regiment, marked the finale of this year's Inter Regiment competition. The victors were able to field two Army players, brothers Steve and Graham Wiseman. Their individual performances were a significant factor in all of their matches and, in particular, the final. Lt Col (Ret'd) PA Salisbury, Vice President RACC, presented the McDonnell Trophy and, in a short address, thanked all those who had organised, officiated and participated, encouraging even greater participation next year.
