At the 2012 AGM, new Club Officials were announced. Major General Nick Eeles, ADC, succeeds Major General Bill Moore, CBE, who has resigned from the Army. Welcome, General Nick and farewell, General Bill. We are enormously grateful to General Bill for his immense contribution to Gunner Cricket; he was our Chairman for two years and our President for twelve. The RACC will be forever in his debt and we wish him well for the future.

The Annual General Meeting of the Royal Artillery Cricket Club will be held on Monday, 12 March, starting at 1400hrs and will be chaired by Col Jez Bennett.

Following last years success, VTC will again be used to allow for greater attendance from across the Regiment and reduce travel burden. There will however be two main locations – MoD Main Bldg and RHQ RA, Larkhill – for those wishing to attend in person.

Cricket Officers are to reply with scheduled attendance and VTC IP number, where necessary, to the Secretary by Mon 5 Mar.

Congratulations to Gilo and Jimmy on their selection for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, announced on 09 February. The Club Secretary commented, "Clearly their extracurricular activities added that final half point to get them over the line". He added, "Now we just need to get Bennett, Bates, Whiting, Caiger, Banham and Kincaid on the pitch, together, to prove our youth policy ...".

A 5 wicket win for the Guns in this curtain raiser for the 2011 Power Cup, as 4 new players made their RACC debut. AMS won the toss and elected to bat in an innings marred by 4 rain stoppages; it took over 5 hours to get through the first 50 overs. The rain and bowling skills of Burwell, Cotterill, Govender and Green certainly had an effect on AMS and innings ended at 221-7 with Hownslow top scoring on 68.

It went to the last over, but REME won by 3 wickets. The Gunners had really needed another 20 to 30 runs from their innings to avoid being caught but it was not to be. Govender top scored with 28, closely followed by Cooksey, 26; Harmer, 25*; Hudson, 22 and, facing only one delivery, Polius, 6*.

Good bowling figures from Charlie Harmer (4-1-11-0) but no wickets. Hudson (4-0-26-2) was the best of the bunch in terms of wickets, but not by much. Burwell, Cooksey and Govender took one each.

The Guns topped Group C, at Deepcut, with wins over Army Air Corps and Royal Logistics Corps.

Game 1, against AAC, saw a 4 wicket haul by Govender for only 13 runs. Polius, Hudson and Malec shared the other 4 wickets as AAC crumbled to 99-8. In reply, Cilliers (21*) and Cooksey (47*) needed only 14 overs to overtake AAC, after Logan had taken 3 of the top order for only 4 runs, with 6 wickets to spare.
