Surridge Trophy - Final Day

It went to the last over, but REME won by 3 wickets. The Gunners had really needed another 20 to 30 runs from their innings to avoid being caught but it was not to be. Govender top scored with 28, closely followed by Cooksey, 26; Harmer, 25*; Hudson, 22 and, facing only one delivery, Polius, 6*.

Good bowling figures from Charlie Harmer (4-1-11-0) but no wickets. Hudson (4-0-26-2) was the best of the bunch in terms of wickets, but not by much. Burwell, Cooksey and Govender took one each.

Nevertheless a good match; great shots, a few superb deliveries and some outstanding fielding ... as well as the usual cocktail of cock-ups, flukes and mistakes; but all played in the spirit of the game.

In the Cup final, REME eventually succumbed to the overwhelming superiority of Infantry and the Sappers prevailed against RLC in the final of the Plate competition.
